Privacy policy

Last updated: 29 September 2026

MotoPilot keeps everything on your phone. There is no account to create, no server to sign in to, and nothing is sent to us — because there is no "us" on the other end. This page explains that in full, because Google Play requires a policy even from an app that collects nothing.

What MotoPilot stores

All of it is written to a database on your own phone:

Nothing in that list is uploaded anywhere. Uninstalling MotoPilot deletes all of it, and there is no copy elsewhere to ask us to delete.

Location

MotoPilot uses your location for two things, both while you are using the app:

Location is read only while a ride is recording, and a recording ride always shows a notification, so you can tell at a glance when the app is using GPS. MotoPilot does not request background location access at all: close the ride and the app stops reading your position.

Your routes are stored on your phone and are never transmitted.

Microphone

The intercom uses your microphone to send your voice to one other rider's phone over a Wi-Fi hotspot the two of you are sharing. While it is running:

The microphone is used only while you have an intercom room open. Leave the room and it stops.

Camera and files

If you photograph a document or pick an existing scan, that image is copied into MotoPilot's private storage on your phone. Documents you mark as private are encrypted on the device using AES-GCM, with the key held in the Android Keystore, and opening them requires your fingerprint or your phone's lock screen.

Biometrics

MotoPilot asks Android to verify your fingerprint or face. Android does the checking and answers yes or no. MotoPilot never sees, receives or stores your biometric data.

Network use

MotoPilot requests internet and Wi-Fi permissions for one purpose: the intercom's local-network audio between two phones on the same hotspot. The app has no backend, sends no telemetry, contains no advertising, and includes no analytics SDK.

Map tiles on the ride route screen are fetched from OpenStreetMap when you open a ride's map and you have a connection. That request reaches OpenStreetMap's servers and, like any web request, carries your IP address and the tiles you asked for. It contains nothing else about you, and no part of your ride is sent with it. OpenStreetMap's own policy is at wiki.osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy.

Children

MotoPilot is for motorcycle riders and is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
